この度、GALLERY TARGET(ギャラリー・ターゲット／渋谷区神宮前) にて、ロンドンを拠点に活動する覆面美術評論家サラ・スティットソンのキュレーションによる四人展を開催いたします。即興的でありながら時に冷酷なまでに示唆に富む表現によって欧米のアートシーンで注目を集める画家五木田智央、グラミー賞受賞者にしてアバンギャルドな才能溢れる意欲作が続く至高の音楽家ジム・オルーク、東京の奥底に響くリアルなリズムの強度を伴った現代的な写真表現に根強い支持を集める写真家塩田正幸、ゼロ年代以降のアメリカン・カルチャーの金字塔を打ち建てつつあるとも言える映画監督／写真家ピーター・サザーランドからなる本展。日本国内外でカルト的な人気を博する彼らは、混沌とした現代の表象に現れる不協和音を絶妙なバランスで紡ぎ、コンテンポラリーな世界観を提示し続ける独特の視点に注目を集めています。本展では、CDジャケットや写真にも自らアートワークを施すレコード（俗にいう「お皿」）・コレクターの四人が描いた陶器のお皿を展示し、今までとはひと味違った作品をご披露いたします。

作家略歴
五木田智央 Tomoo Gokita
1969年東京生まれ。画家。国内外での個展グループ展多数。近年のニューヨークやロサンゼルスでの展覧会も高い評価を受ける。2001年ニューヨークADC金賞受賞。作品集に『ランジェリー・レスリング』（リトルモア）、『OH! 天国』（アートビート・パブリッシャーズ）、『シャッフル鉄道唱歌』（天然文庫）など。
ジム・オルーク Jim O'Rourke
1969年シカゴ出身。10代後半にデレク・ベイリーと出会い、ギターの即興演奏を本格的に始める。その後、実験的要素の強い自身の作品を発表。ジョン・フェイヒイの作品をプロデュースする一方でガスター・デル・ソルやルース・ファー、ソニック・ユースなどのバンドやプロジェクトに積極的に参加。また、マース・カニンガム舞踊団の音楽を担当するなど、現代音楽とポスト・ロックの橋渡し的な存在となる。2004年には「Wilco / A ghost is born」のプロデューサーとして、グラミー賞を受賞。本国でも現代アメリカ音楽シーンを代表するクリエイターとして、高く評価されている。日本文化への造詣も深く、「くるり」のプロデュースを始めとして、ボアダムス、カヒミ・カリィとのコラボレーションや、映画監督若松考二の作品の評論など様々な活動を行っている。
塩田正幸 Masayuki Shioda
2000年のギャラリーTRAXでの個展「NPEAKER」をファースト写真集として、2002年に出版。レコードショップLOS APSON?や六本木magical、ART ROOM、清澄白河のmagic roomなどでの展示や自主レーベル「FLASH BOOKS」より作品集を出版するなど旺盛な制作活動を続けている。
ピーター・サザーランド Peter Sutherland
1976年ミシガン州生まれ。映画監督／写真家。ニューヨーク在住。2001年、ニューヨークのメッセンジャー達を撮ったドキュメンタリー映像「Pedal」を発表。サンダンス映画祭に出品され注目を集める。2003年には、"Gator"こと、マーク・ゲイター・ロウゴウスキーを中心にした、80年代のスケートボードシーンを追ったドキュメンタリー「Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator」で撮影監督を務めた。2004年に初の写真集『Autograf: New York City's Graffiti Writers』、2006年にDVD／フォトブック『Pedal』（共にPower House Books）を発表。現在もID,Vice,Tokionなどの雑誌に寄稿し、Nike,Tylenol,Vice Recordsなどの広告写真を撮るなど、ストリート寄りながらセンシティブな作品を精力的に発表している。
サラ・スティットソン Sara Stitson
覆面美術評論家。Central Saint Martins College of Art and Designにてファッションとアートを学び、ロンドンを拠点に展覧会を企画し、『Dazed & Confused』などの雑誌に寄稿している。ゼロ年代以降の新しい表現を求めるアーティスト達の本質に迫るキュレーションが注目を集めている。Twitterアカウントは「@SaraStitson」。

Curated by a masked art critique based in London Sara Stitson, four artists will be showing their plate painting at GALLERY TARGET. Tomoo Gokita who paints extemporarily but sharp and accurate Jim O’Rouke who holds an avant-garde talent is a Grammy winner, Masayuki Shioda whose powerful photographs resonate real Tokyo and Peter Sutherland whose work includes photography and film, part of a pyramid of artists came out after year 2000 by capturing the American culture.

Tomoo Gokita
Born on1969 in Tokyo. Painter. Gokita has been exhibited and participated extensively within Japan as well as oversea. Recent exhibitions in both New York and Los Angels were highly appraised. On 2001, received Gold Prize on The Art Directors Club 80th Annual Awards in New York. His publication includes “LINGERLE WRESTLING” (Little More Co., Ltd.), “Oh! Tengoku” (Artbeat Publishers Inc.), “Shuffle Tetsudo Shyouka” and more.
Jim O’Rouke
Born on 1969 in Chicago. Start playing improvised guitar from an encounter to Derek Bailey in late teens. Since then O’Rouke has been releasing experimental works. On the other hand, O’Rouke has been producing John Fahey and was a member of bands such as Gastr Del Sol, Loose Fur and Sonic Youth. As a bridge between contemporary music and post rock, he has been producing music for Merce Cunningham. On 2004, received Grammy Award as a producer of “Wilco / A ghost is bom”. O’Rouke also is familiar in Japan for producing “Kururi” and collaborating with artists such as Boredoms and Kahimi Kari as well as as a film commentariat for Kouji Wakamatsu’s works.
Masayuki Shioda
First book was published on 2002, from an exhibition “NPEKAKER” at TRAX gallery. Since then Shioda have been showing his work at LOS APSON?, magical Art Room and magic room. He also has been publishing much books from his own lable “FLASH BOOKS”.
Peter Sutherland
A photographer and filmmaker. Born in Michigan and raised in Colorado, he lives in New York. His first feature documentary, PEDAL, premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2001 before airing on Sundance Channel. In 2006 he finished his second feature (with co-director Jack Youngelson), TIERNEY GEARON: THE MOTHER PROJECT; an intricate portrait of the artist and her unconventional family relationships. Sutherland has also published numerous artist’s books with powerHouse Books, Nieves, Art Beat Press, and P.A.M. Books. He is currently represented by ATM Gallery in NYC.
Sara Stitson
A masked art critique based in London. After studying both apparel design and art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, moved to London. Since then, she has been curating exhibitions and contribute to “Dazed and Confused”. Stitson curates artists who came out after year 2000 who seek for new ways in expressing themselves and focus their nature. Her Twitter account is “@SaraStitson”
